pistacchio (pistachio) di Bronte D.O.P.

World famous Bronte pistachios are grown in the foothills of Mount Etna centered around the town of Bronte, Sicily. Harvested by hand only once every two years, Bronte pistachios account for only 1% of global production of the crop. Often called Sicily’s “green gold”, their distinctive intense flavour comes from the mineral rich volcanic soil in which they grow, and due to the fact that the trees are never irrigated. Bronte pistachios are certified D.O.P. (Protected Designation of Origin). This certification ensures that products are locally grown and packaged. It’s a guarantee that the product is made by local farmers and artisans using traditional methods. The D.O.P. label brings a higher price tag with it, but also promises the highest quality.

Considered one of the best hazelnuts in the world, Nocciola Piemonte (hazelnuts from Piemonte) come from the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria, in an area between the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato hills within the region of Piemonte, Italy. They are characterized by their outstanding flavor and aroma, especially when roasted. Nocciola Piemonte are designated I.G.P. (Indication of Geographic Protection), which links the food back to the region where it is produced or prepared.

Gianduia is a traditional chocolate hazelnut cream originally created in 1806 by confectioners in Torino, made with cocoa powder and I.G.P. hazelnuts from Piemonte.
