World famous Bronte pistachios are grown in the foothills of Mount Etna centered around the town of Bronte, Sicily. Harvested by hand only once every two years, Bronte pistachios account for only 1% of global production of the crop. Often called Sicily’s “green gold”, their distinctive intense flavour comes from the mineral rich volcanic soil in which they grow, and due to the fact that the trees are never irrigated. Bronte Pistachios are certified D.O.P. (Protected Designation of Origin). This certification ensures that products are locally grown and packaged. It’s a guarantee that the product is made by local farmers and artisans, using traditional methods. The D.O.P. label brings a higher price tag with it, but also promises the highest quality.
